On May 26, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC), Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), and Korea Defense Industry Association (KDIA) concluded the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on creating an integrity ecosystem in the defense industry in Seoul.

The MoU is a part of the ACRC's efforts to create an integrity ecosystem in Korean society where the government, businesses, and civil society make concerted efforts to spread a culture of integrity.

Representatives of six members of KDIA, including Hanwha Corporation, Poongsan Corporation, Korea Aerospace Industries, LIG Next 1, Hanwha Thales, and Yeonhab Precision, attended the MOU signing ceremony.

Heads of the three organizations agreed to strengthen public-private partnership to enhance transparency of the defense industry, along with mutual cooperation in integrity training, information sharing, and institutional improvement.

The ACRC will provide training on anti-corruption laws and other integrity training courses and will support ethical management of businesses. DAPA will draw up and implement various policies to increase transparency in the defense sector. KDIA will make efforts to lay the foundation for ethical management for its members and to disseminate a culture of integrity.

The three organizations will exchange materials and information needed to improve integrity in the sector and will cooperate to promote ethical business practices and institutional improvement.

Representatives of defense businesses attending the ceremony pledged their commitment to ethical management and active participation in the effort to make the defense industry more transparent.

Chairman Sung Yung-hoon of the ACRC said, "I expect that our partnership will not only contribute to enhancing transparency of the defense industry but also to raising the international community's confidence in Korea."

Minister Chang Myoung-jin of DAPA stated, "I will spare no effort so that the MoU can promote the integrity-based defense sector."

Chairman Cho Yang-ho of KDIA mentioned, "Marking today's ceremony, all our members will actively join forces to build an integrity ecosystem in the industry as a whole."
