From May 19, the ACRC conducted a two-week training course for anti-corruption practitioners from around the world, to contribute to enhancing their anti-corruption capacity.

Last year, the ACRC launched the "ACRC Training Course for International Anti-Corruption Practitioners," by inviting anti-corruption practitioners from the relevant bodies around the world. This year, 46 people from 16 countries applied for the training, and a total of 10 trainees from 10 countries--Cambodia, Kyrgyz, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, Paraguay, Singapore, Thailand and Timor-Leste--were finally selected to attend the training program.

The training program was composed of the courses with high demand and interest from the trainees, including Integrity Assessment, Anti-Corruption Initiatives Assessment, Corruption Impact Assessment, Code of Conduct for Public Officials, and whistleblower protection system. In particular, the training program of this year expanded training on corruption investigation in cooperation with the Supreme Prosecutors'Office. In addition, the lectures on bribery and asset recovery were also newly introduced.

Miguel Romero, Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paraguay, one of the trainees, said that the training was useful in that the trainees from not only developing countries but also advanced countries participated in the training and shared their experience. He added that he hoped this training program, which is targeting mainly Asian countries, would be expanded to South America and other regions.

An ACRC official said that the ACRC will expand this training program to help develop the capacity of human resources and institutions in the anti-corruption area around the world and reduce the corruption problems in the respective countries in the long term.
