Anti-corruption agencies of Korea and Vietnam agreed to extend the MOU on mutual cooperation for further three years.

In a meeting with ACRC Vice Chairman Hyun-bok Choi on July 23, the delegation from the Vietnamese Office of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption said that they wish to strengthen cooperation with Korea by extending the anti-corruption MOU, which will expire early next year.

After welcoming the Vietnamese delegation, Vice Chairman Choi said "Korea and Vietnam need to work together to increase social capital such as trust, transparency and integrity, which is essential to sustainable development."

At a bilateral working-level meeting, the two anti-corruption agencies agreed to extend the MOU for a period from 2013 to 2015 and to hold a meeting in late October in Hanoi to evaluate the three years' efforts to implement the MOU and discuss future activities.

During their visit to Seoul, the Vietnamese officials attended a workshop organized by the ACRC on July 24 to 26, and learned about Korea's anti-corruption policies and practices including legal frameworks on anti-corruption, investigation of corruption cases, and prevention of corruption in public procurement.
