The 2012 University Club for Integrity Promotion had a kick-off ceremony on May 29 at the ACRC Training Center.

The University Club for Integrity Promotion was formed three years ago in 2009 and is divided into regional groups, each consisting of 4 to 6 students. The university students in the club have contributed to raising public awareness about the need for integrity on university campuses and the need to create a culture of integrity in local communities through various types of campaigns, voluntary work and club activities.

This year, a total of 96 teams from 8 regions applied for the Club, and 15 teams consisting of 80 university students were selected after going through a second evaluation.

Over the next six months, they will introduce the importance of integrity online and offline and produce various kinds of content to promote anti-corruption and integrity.

For example, to promote integrity they will create UCCs and webtoons on the issue and utilize SNSs such as Twitter and Facebook; take pledges from public officials on banning solicitation and special favors in cooperation with local public organizations; carry out interviews with the heads of local governments and corporations on the issue of integrity; teach at elementary schools about integrity as a one-day teacher; and promote integrity to tourists in local festivals and summer resorts.

Each team will receive the activity cost of KRW 700,000 every month, and the teams that rank excellent in the monthly evaluation will be selected to receive additional incentives.

When the term is finished at the end of year, the ACRC will hold an event so that students can report on their activities. The outstanding performers will win the Chairperson’s Award and be awarded opportunities to explore other countries known to have a high level of integrity. Other teams receiving awards for excellence or participation will also receive scholarships.

The ACRC also plans to choose and reward the best online contents on integrity that are made by the Club this year. The best of the contents will be shared on the Internet.
