ACRC signed an MOU with private construction industry associations

On December 15th, the ACRC signed an MOU with the Construction Vision Forum, the Korean Society of Civil Engineers and the Architectural Institute of Korea to enhance the level of transparency in the construction industry in Korea.


 


Generally, the construction industry is regarded as the most corrupt in Korea. To enhance transparency level of the industry via private-public cooperation, the President of the Construction Vision Forum proposed an MOU between the ACRC and the construction industry.


 


The main contents of the MOU to enhance transparency are 3 projects including identification of actual level of corruption in the construction business and institutional improvement through cause analysis, evaluation of transparency level of the construction industry and announcement of the results and voluntary campaign to prevent corruption and PR efforts.


 


For institutional improvement through identification of actual corruption level of the industry and cause analysis, participants agreed to set necessary topics, to hold regular discussion sessions and seminars to come up with countermeasures and finally to give recommendations to related government agencies.


 


 For the evaluation of transparency level of the construction industry and results announcement, they agreed to develop self-assessment model and index, to discuss the scope of evaluation target and methodologies and to carry out actual evaluation of construction companies and release of the results.


 


And for voluntary campaign to prevent corruption and PR efforts, they agreed to select those who contributed to corruption prevention and corporation with transparent management practices and reward them. They also agreed to carry out self-purification resolution session and campaign and media PR efforts.
